Marion-Patricia Ann (Baker) Corder, 85, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 4:15 a.m.
Patricia was born May 8, 1931, in Marion, Illinois, to James T. Jr. and Margaret E. (Voss) Baker. After the death of her parents, she was adopted by her paternal grandparents, James T. Sr. and Cora M. Baker in 1934.
She married Bill G. Corder on March 27, 1948, in Morganfield, KY. He preceded her in death December 25, 1986.
Patricia is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Adra (Conard) Kennedy, and Mrs. Rhoda (Steve) Bond; one granddaughter, Mrs. Erin (Zach) Hutchinson; one grandson, Matthew Kennedy; one great granddaughter, Sloan Valli Hutchinson; and one niece, Mrs. Rebecca (Bernard) Paul, all of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, husband, daughter Valli Rae Corder in 1995, brother Ervin N. Baker, and sister-in-law Violet Baker.
Patricia graduated from Marion High School and worked as a licensed practical nurse, and later as a legal secretary and coroner's stenographer. She retired in 1977 due to her disability with Multiple Sclerosis.
She was a life-long member of the First Christian Church in Marion, Delta Theta Tau Sorority, and the Williamson County and Illinois Legal Secretaries.
Patricia was an accomplished seamstress, creative homemaker, avid reader, wonderful mother, and a Republican. She loved God, family, country, friends, good music, and her devoted caregivers. She keenly kept informed of current events, from worldwide to local, and enjoyed sharing information with her visitors daily.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Blue Funeral Home in Marion, Illinois, with Reverend Bill Rucker officiating. Visitation will also be Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
