Oscar Miles

Oscar Lee Miles, age 74, of Marion, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 8:10 p.m. at his home.

Oscar was born on March 10, 1946, the son of Frank and Helen (Crabb) Miles.  He married Barbara Jean Stoup in 1967 in Marion and she survives.  Oscar began working for Goss Appliance in 1970.  After John Goss retired in 1986, Oscar began his own business, Oscar’s Service, which he owned and operated until the present day.  Oscar loved to work, always tinkering in his shop.  He was well known for his knowledge and ability to fix anything.  He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed fishing and watching racing, both NASCAR and drag racing.

Daughter:  Teri (Shannon) Schloss of West Frankfort

Grandchildren:  Ryan Lawrence, Kyle Lawrence and Derek Lawrence, all of Metropolis

Brendan (Becka) Schloss of Mountain Grove, Missouri

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen Miles; his grandson, Cade Schloss; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to say a special thanks to LHC Home Health and to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at Blue Funeral Home in Marion on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Bob Wagner officiating.  Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Goreville.  A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 noon until the time of service.

Due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 virus, those attending the visitation and service are asked to maintain social distancing guidelines and wear a face mask.

For those who prefer, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
