MARION- Opal Schaede, 101, of Marion passed away at 8:28 PM, Monday, February 21, 2005 at her home. Entombment will be held at Mt. Hope Mausoleum in Urbana, Illinois. There will be no public visitation. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, and may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Schaede was born on November 12, 1903 in Urbana, Illinois to Edgar T. and Maud (Moon) Hutchison. She married Mayo W. Schaede on August 15, 1924 in Danville, Illinois and he preceded her in death on February 5, 2003. Survivors include son, Dr. Richard E. and Marlene Schaede of Marion; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Don Funke of Rantoul, Illinois, Donna and Donn Zolman of Ramer, Alabama; nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and one grandson. Mrs. Schaede lived most of her life in Champaign County, Illinois. She attended first grade at the Allan School in Leverett. She then attended Thomasboro Grade School. She attended two years of high school in Thomasboro and completed graduation at the Urbana High School. Mrs. Schaede worked as a cashier for the Chanute AFB Exchange from 1937-1954. She then was employed by the First National Bank in Thomasboro in 1970 and later retired from this position. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and playing the organ. Mrs. Schaede was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marion.
