Opal L. Malcolm PITTSBURG-Opal L. Malcolm, 98, of Pittsburg passed away at 11:20 PM, Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Bill McDonald officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, October 13, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cana Cemetery east of Marion. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Malcolm was born on August 31, 1908 in Creal Springs, Illinois to William and Cora Willard. She married Robert Taylor Malcolm; he preceded her in death in 1968. Survivors include son, Wayne Edward Malcolm of Marion; grandchildren, Chana and Billy Stapleton and Keith Malcolm all of Marion; great grandchildren, Garin Stapleton and Kourtney Malcolm; and brother, Walter E. Willard of Shelbina, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Chloa Trovillion; and brothers, Robert Ray Willard and George Willard. Mrs. Malcolm was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and loved to cook, sew and garden. She will be missed by her family.
