Opal Jackson MARION-Opal Jackson,86, of Marion formerly of Salinas, California passed away at 2:20 AM, Sunday, December 11, 2005 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 15, 2005 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Dan Boyd officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at Blairsville Cemetery in Blairsville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62659. Mrs. Jackson was born on January 26, 1919 in Rosedale, Oklahoma to Wiley and Maude (Martin) Harbison. She married Bernis Jackson in Syre, Oklahoma in 1940 and together they shared 65 years of marriage. She was of the Apostolic-Pentecostal faith. Survivors include her husband, Bernis Jackson of Marion; daughter, Nancy Brandon of Marion; daughter and son-in-law, LaNell and Reverend R. G. Walls of Marion; grandchildren, Annette Walls, Ronnie Walls, Kim and Doug Janz, Erica and Jason Claunch, Launa and Brandon “BJ” Davis, and Celeste Jackson; great grandchildren, Jacob Janz, DJ Janz, Jr., Ashley Hart and Amanda Hart; dear friend, Dennis Brandon; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Billy Carroll Jackson; four brothers; and five sisters. Special thanks to Hospice of Southern Illinois, also the nursing staff of Heartland Regional Medical Center, VNA/TIP of Herrin and Fountains Nursing Home.
