Odas Brasher
MARION-Odas Brasher, 79, of Marion passed away at 8:59 PM, Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the VA Nursing Home in Marion.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Ralph Brandon and Reverend Terry Griffith officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, January 19, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Military rites will be held at the cemetery by Marion VFW Post 1301 and American Post 147. Mr. Brasher was born April 22, 1927 in Herrin, Illinois to Ernest Lee and Eva Lee (Edwards) Brasher. He married Patsy Sue Reach and she survives.
Other survivors include son and daughter-in-law, John and Rosanne Brasher of Canastota, New York; granddaughters, Amanda Brasher of New York City, New York and Suzi Brasher of Syracuse, New York; sisters, Mary Duiguid, Imogene Dame, Geraldine Leffler, Shirley Westermeier and La Donna Bennett; brother, Leon Brasher; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ernest and John Brasher.
Mr. Brasher was a member of the Christian Covenant Fellowship Church in Carterville. He previously worked as a steam fitter with the Civil Service. He served his country with the United States Navy on board the ship that fired the very first Atomic Bomb. In his spare time he loved to fish.
