Reverend O. Dean Stevenson GOREVILLE-Reverend O. Dean Stevenson, 66, of Goreville passed away at 4:20AM, Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, September 28, 2009 at Friendship Cemetery in Goreville with Reverend Ed Wheeler officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 PM, Sunday, September 27, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Goreville. Memorials may be made to his family; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Dean was born July 8, 1943 in Granite City to Oliver James and Mildred (Webb) Stevenson. He married Sandy Filer on October 9, 1963 in Madison; together they shared almost 46 years of marriage. Other survivors include his wife, Sandy of Goreville; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Donna Stevenson of Goreville; grandsons, Cody and Will Stevenson; mother, Mildred Stevenson of Peoria; brothers and sister-in-law, Joe and Julie Stevenson of Peoria and Wayne Stevenson of Harrisburg; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Larry Smith of Peoria; uncle, Louis Webb of Seattle, Washington; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and several aunts and uncles. Dean was a pioneer for Christian television and radio. He was a car collector and founder and president of Chariots of Fire Christian Car Club. He loved to spend time with his son and grandsons. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
