Novella Groves Novella Groves, loving wife, mother and grandmother went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 27, 2010 at 2:44AM. She was born on July 30, 1923 to Esther Harris & Leroy Dunn in Carrier Mills, Illinois. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time on Thursday. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Reverend Scott Kallem will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959. Novella was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Glenn Dunn. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Groves; daughters, Karen Kay & Ronald Keith Summers of Benton, Anita Kay & John Harold Lloyd of Herrin; grandchildren, Rebecca Kay Summers of Irving, TX and John Jeremy Lloyd of Karnak, IL; 1st cousin, Leanna Austin of Carrier Mills and several nieces & nephews. Novella graduated in June of 1942 from Carrier Mills Community High School. She was married on September 21, 1945 to Raymond. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage. Novella was of the Southern Baptist faith. She taught Sunbeams many years ago and was very active in her church for as long as her health allowed her to be. Mother’s philosophy was rooted firmly in her faith. She believed that if you do the best you can, the Lord would always see you through some way. She and her husband Raymond Groves were owners of Grove’s Carpet Sales & Service from 1960 until 1986. They had one of the first flooring businesses in the area. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers Linda Haden & Michael Hagen. The assistance to her husband by Travis Wheaton through this difficult time will always be appreciated.
