Norma Johnston

Marion-Norma L. Johnston, 95, passed away at 12:40am on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Heartland Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family Norma was born September 5, 1919 in Johnston City to Joseph and Lavinia (Hoy) Thirlaway. She married Robert Johnston and he preceded her in death. Norma was a waitress in the Marion area for several years. She enjoyed sports and especially Cardinals baseball. Norma loved her family and spending time with them. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include: Daughter-Jerry and Brian Thomas of Marion Son-Pete and Susie Avripas of FL Son-Tony Avripas of Marion Son-Bill Johnston and Fiancé Paula Stroub of Harrisburg Son-Bob and Sara Johnston of Carterville Grandchildren: Brad and Janae McGee Holly and Brian Pomrening Keri and Jim White Kurt and Diana Avripas Paula and Mike Strader Paige and Jody Ferguson Makenzie and Benjamin Beaty Morgan Gravatt Ashley and Justin Waldrop Taylor Wicks Cory Johnston Kelly Johnston and Fiancé Josh Webb Nine great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Robert Thirlaway and two sisters, Janet Engram and J.O. Bione. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. John Holst officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, March 16, 2015 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home.
