MARION -- Nora Mae Kirkpatrick, 89, passed away at 8:34 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, in Angel Acres in Marion.
According to Nora's wishes, her earthly body will be cremated and a memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in Blue Funeral Home in Marion, with the Rev. David Gilley officiating. A private burial will be in Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Herrin at a later date. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available during services or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, P.O. Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959.
Nora was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Buckner, to Walker and Catherine Cutty.
She married George H. Kirkpatrick on Nov. 22, 1945. He preceded her in death April 1, 1976.
She is survived by her children, George and Cathy Kirkpatrick of Pittsburg, Pat and Bill Christopher of Marion and Kathryn and Bill Stewart of Pueblo West, Colo.; grandchildren, Brian and Gretchen Miller, Lindsey Harris, Kevin Kirkpatrick, Cassie and Josh Franklin and Jerry and Danielle Wassell; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Harriet Phillips.
Nora attended Freedom Freewill Baptist Church. She retired from Olin in 1987. She enjoyed her retirement quilting and working in her yard and flower gardens. Nora loved to cook and make candy.
