Noble L Holmes

Noble L. Holmes, of Creal Springs, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, at the VA Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. Born on July 31, 1955, to Douglas “Gilbert” Holmes and Katherine Louise Stokes-Holmes, Noble lived a life filled with love, hard work, and cherished family moments. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley-Ross. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 15, at Springhill Cemetery in Creal Springs, Illinois. Friends and family planning to attend are asked to gather at the cemetery shortly before the service begins. Reverend William Newton will officiate.

Noble proudly served our Nation in the United States Army from September of 1973 until his honorable discharge in February of 1979. 

Noble was united in marriage to Lori A. Hanks-Holmes, and together they celebrated 35 years of marriage. Noble spent much of his career as an over-the-road truck driver, primarily hauling livestock. In his later years, he found joy sitting on the porch, relishing life’s simple pleasures, like coffee and pizza, with Lori at his side. 

Noble is survived by his loving wife, Lori A. Holmes, and sons, Noah Holmes and Jordan Holmes, all of Creal Springs. Also surviving are his brother, Doug (Leisa) Holmes of Creal Springs; sisters, Lisa (Harry) Simpson of Creal Springs, and Vicky (Doug) Babb of Melbourne, Florida; and grandchildren Ethan, Evan, and Megan Holmes, Ivory Zeller, and Bailey (Glenn) Needham. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Chloe and Meiah Needham. 

He will be deeply missed by his extended family, including brothers-in-law BJ (Karron) Hanks and Allen (Lori) Hanks of Texas, and Roger (Kathy) Hanks of Vermont; and sisters-in-law Alma (Mark) Walsh of Tennessee, and Jeanie Holmes and Marcy Holme-Wolaver. 

Noble was preceded in death by his parents, “Gilbert” and “Louise” Holmes; sons, Chuckie A. Holmes and Brian L. Holmes; father-in-law Richard W. Hanks; mother-in-law Karen S. Alsip; and brothers Gilbert “Gibby” E. Holmes, Donnie C. Holmes, Randall K. Holmes, Jimmie D. Holmes, and Michael T. Holmes.
