Johnston City- Nellie Faye Childers, age 86, of Johnston City, passed away at 2:20am on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Hillview Healthcare Center in Vienna. Nellie was born in Lick Creek, Illinois on November 26, 1931, the daughter of George and Etta (Gurley) Manus. She married Donald Childers in Piggott, Arkansas on September 20, 1947. He preceded her in death on November 5, 2013.  Mrs. Childers was a homemaker. Survivors include: Sons- Rufus Childers and wife Bev of Creal Springs Son- Ralph Childers and wife Martha of Golconda Son- Dewayne Childers and wife Carol of Kingston, TN Daughter-Norma Rumsey and husband Harold of Johnston City Grandchildren: Kenny and Chrissy Childers Dale Childers Melissa and Micah Norris Randy and Michelle Childers Todd and Lindsey Childers Bonnie and Matt Norman Sam and Lisa Mighell Kevin and Samantha Mighell Tammy and Rick Foutch Kim and George Bechelli 17 great-grandchildren Colton, Dustin, Ethan, Audery, Dakotah, Austin, Mariah, Daisy, Lucy, Rusty, Ellie, Brody, Jon, Nick, Sophia, Clayton, and Trenton Five great-great grandchildren- Addison, Emma, Caleb, Ryan, and Holden Two Sisters- Virginia Lence of Lick Creek Emma Williams of Olmsted Two Brothers-in-law- Ray Childers Bill and Connie Childers She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter- Angie Childers, granddaughter-in-law- Jill Childers, twin sister- Mellie Childers, two brothers- Wayne and Raymond Manus, and sister-in-law- Dorothy Childers. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and caregivers at Hillview Healthcare Center and Hospice of Southern Illinois.  Your wonderful care and compassion shown during this precious time is greatly appreciated. Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville. Rev. John Howat will officiate. Burial will follow at Anna City Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 11am-noon on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Carmi Baptist Children's Home. Envelopes may be mailed to Blue Funeral Home/ PO Box 411/ Marion, IL  62959.
