N Ruth Hubler

N. Ruth Hubler, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Fairview Rehabilitation & Healthcare in DuQuoin, Illinois. Ruth was a lifelong resident of Marion, Illinois and was born on February 3, 1928, in Franklin County near Akin, Illinois. She married Kenneth T. Hubler on July 31, 1948, and was a graduate of Benton High School, class of 1945. 

She is survived by son Thomas Hubler of Ohio, brother Lee Hollaway and wife Farida of Chester, Illinois, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dalton and Minnie Hollaway, husband Kenneth Hubler, brother Curtis Hollaway, sister Evah Lager Pickard, niece Mary Mugler and nephew Curt Hollaway.

Ruth enjoyed gardening and drying flowers which she used in her floral designs. She was an active member of the Marion Garden Club and enjoyed the fellowship of her fellow gardeners. She was also a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority, an organization dedicated to charity and philanthropic work. Ruth began work at the age of thirteen babysitting for neighborhood children. She also worked for several years as a secretary in her husband’s law office. Her last employment was The Country Porch, showcasing her floral work. She worked there for twelve years until it’s closure and played an important role in the success of the store. Ruth loved her family, flowers, cardinals at the birdfeeder, the color green, the lake, Colonial Williamsburg, Gaither and God. She will be sorely missed and often remembered.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Blue Funeral Home of Marion, Illinois. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 22, at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm with the service beginning at 2:00 pm. Scott Cody from the Maryland Heights Church of Christ in St. Louis, Missouri will be the officiant.
