Myrna L. Smith

Myrna L. Smith, age 85, of Marion, Illinois,  passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Parkway Manor in Marion, Illinois.

Myrna was born January 21, 1938 in Scottsboro, Illinois, a daughter of Delbert and Edna (Jeralds) Emery.  Myrna grew up in Scottsboro and graduated Marion High School in 1956.  She worked as an operator for GTE in Marion.  She married Kenneth R. Smith on November 30, 1960.  Myrna then started working for Diagraph Bradley in the Accounting Dept. and retired after 30 plus years.  Myrna loved to read, listen to gospel music, and she and her husband grew a large garden.  Myrna was a dedicated member at Scottsboro Baptist Church.  She was very kind and loved helping people any way she could.  

She is survived by her son, Timothy R. Smith of Marion, IL; one grandson, Tony R. (Lindsey) Smith of St. Petersburg, FL; and three siblings, Louise (Alvin) Beasley of Marion, IL, Bob Emery of Marion, IL, and Jerry Emery of Marion, IL.  She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth R. Smith; her parents, Delbert and Edna Emery; and seven siblings, Faye Boles, Cletus Emery, Ralph Emery, William Glen Emery, Delbert Emery Jr., Retha Emery, and Harold Dean Emery.

Visitation will be held at Blue Funeral Home on Monday, April 10th from 10:00AM until 11:00 AM.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bill Schell officiating.     Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion.
