Marion- Richard E. Springhart, 69, of Marion, passed away at 10:47 AM, Friday, October 11, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Richard was born on April 1, 1944 in Creal Springs to Ochil and Jessie (Donnellson) Springhart. He married Gladys Cooper on February 8, 1964 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Marion. She survives of Marion.
He formerly worked as a Buggy Runner and Continuous Miner Operator at Freeman #6 Mine. He was a member of the united Mine Workers of America. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

Daughter- Angela Beth Hopkins of Marion
Daughter- Patricia Lynn Gaston of Marion
Son- Richard Franklin “Frankie” Springhart and wife Katherine of San Antonio, TX
Son- Mark Neil Thompson, Sr. of Marion
Fifteen Grandchildren
Fourteen Great Grandchildren plus two on the way
Sister- Jeanne Cochran of Birmingham, AL
Half brothers and sisters- Pat Halem, John Burke, Tommy Burke and Jimmy Burke of St. Louis
Several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents, an aunt and uncle who raised him- Frank and Marie Hill, granddaughter- Falon Taylor, one sister- Brenda Cleveland and one brother- Eddie Springhart.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, October 18, 2013 at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at the graveside. Blue Funeral Home in Marion assisted the family with memorial arrangements.
