Johnston City- Lindle Lee McRoy, 73, of Johnston City, formerly of Marion, passed away at 8:25 PM, Friday, August 1, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Lindle was born on December 3, 1940 in Marion to Harry and Cliva (Watson) McRoy. He married Lora Louise Henderson on June 27, 1959 in Marion. She survives of Johnston City.
He began his working career working underground in various area coal mines, where he was affectionately nicknamed “Jabbers”. When the mines closed down, he worked a bit with Vernell’s Trucking and then later at Shew Brothers Fabrication in Marion until his retirement.
He was a member of the Marion Eagle’s and enjoyed spending his time fishing with his friends and family on Lake Okeechobee and Lake Michigan. He also enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball and travelling to different destinations with his family. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Son- Danny McRoy and wife Kristine of Johnston City
Son- Heath McRoy and wife Kim of Marion
Daughter- Lora Shadowens and husband Scott of Crab Orchard
Daughter- Meredith Hutson and husband Wesley of Crab Orchard

Brother- Jerry McRoy and wife Judy of Marion
Sister- Jeannie Mofield and husband Ernest of Marion

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson- Travis McRoy, granddaughter- Shelby McRoy and sister and brother in law- Helen and Don Beaumont.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. His brother, Rev. Joe McRoy will officiate. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday, August 4, 2014 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion.
