Marion - Minnie Alice Ritchey Holmes, 92, passed away on Sunday morning, May 24, 2015
Alice was born on August 7, 1922 in Mattoon, Illinois. She married Harold (Tom) H. Holmes and together they shared 50 years of marriage. Both were accomplished square dancers and performed all over the Midwest during their many years together. Alice worked for Western Electric for 35 years, retiring in 1977 as a Supervisor within the Engineering department
Alice was very creative and enjoyed spending much of her free time working on craft projects of all kinds. She was a talented knitter, quilter and crochet artist. She also painted and worked with beads, polished rocks and other mediums of the arts.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; parents, John and Neva (Highland) Ritchey; four brothers and one sister.
She leaves to celebrate her life: Niece, Deanna Holmes, with whom she lived for the past five years, and adopted niece, Diana Biggs. Also celebrating her life are nieces, Darlene (John) Murphy, Wendy (Fred) Killingbeck, Ruth (Patrick) Mokrycki, Patricia (Boyd) Kunze and Jackie Kravitz; nephews, Jerry (Charlene) Nash and Robert (Debbie) Holmes and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind special friends, Bonnie Clark and family and Kevin and Landon Svoboda.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 9am-11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with services immediately following.
Graveside services will also be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 4pm at Hardinville Cemetery in Hardinville, IL with Rev. Mike Garrett officiating.
