Milton Talbert Mutt Boaz
MARION-Milton Talbert Mutt Boaz, 88, of Marion passed away at 2:54 PM, Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the V.A. Medical Center in Marion.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Kevin McNeely officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Military rites will be held at the cemetery by VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and the National Guard.
Milton was born on Aprill 22, 1922 in Ledford to Aaron and Mamie (Bunker) Boaz. He married Erna Balzies; she preceded him in death on January 15, 2004.
Survivors include his children, Hella and Dean Ritcheson of Pennsylvania, Jeff and Vicki Boaz of Creal Springs, Barbara and Stephen Hogg of Springfield, Steve and Linda Boaz of Springfield and Jayne Boaz of Marion; several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; brother, Vail Boaz of St. Petersburg, Florida; and sisters, Ida Mae Pritchett of El Paso, Texas and Patsy Owens of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; son, Rex Boaz; daughter, Debbie Rice; brothers, Melvin, Calvin, Aaron and William T Boaz; and sisters, Virginia Ropp and Edith Riley.
Milton served his country with the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was listed as a POW during World War II. He worked with the Military Police, retiring after many years of service. After retirement he worked as VA Medical Center Police. He was a member and past Post Commander of the VFW Post 1301. He enjoyed fishing and watching movies.
