Mildred Stapleton

Marion-Mildred Stapleton, 92, passed away at 3:05pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.
Mildred was born on July 14, 1922 in Marion to Rufus and Bertha (Capron) Sanders. She married Russell Stapleton on July 4, 1941 in Jackson, MO and they shared 73 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2014.
Mildred was always in church; Block Chapel then built First Church of God and New Hope Church. She spent her days cooking for the Marion Ministerial Alliance. Mildred loved to ride horses and go camping and take care of her grandkids. She enjoyed reading and sewing and was known for her fried pies. She will be missed by all

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Steven Stapleton and Jerry Stapleton; three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at 2pm at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Ivan Ryan officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, November 29, 2014 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N. Court St/ Marion, IL 62959.
