Mildred “Mickey” McCarver MARION-Mildred “Mickey” McCarver, 84, of Marion passed away at 1:25 PM, Friday, October 26, 2007 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease at Parkway Manor in Marion. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, October 28, 2007 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion for those who came to know Mickey in her later years. Her life will also be celebrated at Stokelan Drive Christian Church in Malden, Missouri during funeral services at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 30, 2007. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, October 29, 2007 at Landess Funeral Home in Malden. Burial will be at Malden Cemetery. For those who prefer, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes will be available at Blue Funeral Home in Marion as well as Landess Funeral Home in Malden. Mickey was born December 18, 1922 near Malden, Missouri where she lived most of her life until coming to Marion to live with family in 2002. In 1939 she was united in marriage to Thayer Turman who was a World War II casualty. Later she married Everett McCarver who preceded her in death in 1989; together they raised three children. Mickey worked almost all her adult life. Before her retirement, she was the Cotton Hill Township, Missouri tax collector. She was a member of the Stokelan Drive Christian Church, where she was active in many of the church organization, including the Thursday Afternoon Bible Fellowship, Young at Heart, The Ladies Group, and the Sanctuary Class. Mickey was known for her devotion to her savior, Jesus Christ, her kind and generous heart, her wonderful pies which she baked and gave away, and her love for her family and friends. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Absher and husband, Bill of Marion and Karen Berry and husband, Jim of Bernie, Missouri; son, Everett McCarver of Sarasota, Florida; two grandsons, David Arnold and wife, Kim and Michael Absher and wife, Cheryl all of Marion; granddaughter, Leigh Ann Hancock and husband, Bennie of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; seven great grandchildren; and several loving care-givers, especially, Brenda Kincaid of Colp. She was preceded in death by her parents; her parents; one sister; and one brother.
