Mildred M. Thompson Marion-Mildred M. Thompson, 86, of Marion passed away at 4:00 PM, Friday, May 15, 2009 at Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 18, 2009 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. Bob Wagner officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Thompson was born July 8, 1922 in Evarts, Kentucky to Walker and Grace (Hatmaker) Williams. She married Leon G. Thompson on November 4, 1944 in Bennetsville, South Carolina they shared 64 years of marriage together. Leon survives. Survivors include her husband, Leon of Marion; son, Steven Lee Thompson; son and daughter-in-law Victor Hollis & Suzanne Thompson all of Marion; daughter, Carla Lynn & Rick Michelena of McAllen, Texas; grandchildren, Jodi Lynn & David Gamble, Jane Ann & Larry Dean Pope, all of Marion, Jenny Lee & Travis Felty of Pittsburg; great-grandson, Jacob Gamble; sisters, Pauline Ellis of Evarts, Kentucky, and Mabel Huskey of Chicago; brothers, Jack & Eleanor Williams of Naples, Florida, Paul & Vera Williams of Harlan, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Emma Wallace; and brother, Earl Williams. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Second Baptist Church. She loved to cook and take care of her family and grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
