Mildred Juanita Odum MARION-Mildred Juanita Odum, 89, of Marion passed away at 11:14 AM, Monday, July 28, 2008 at Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion with her family by her side. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 1, 2008 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Cindy Bean. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Odum was born July 12, 1919 in Johnston City, Illinois to Ethel Harris. She married Charles William “Granger” Odum on September 1, 1938 in Missouri; he preceded her in death on June 10, 1976. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Jon Sullins of Versailles, Kentucky; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Kathi Odum of Marion; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Gary Childers of Marion; daughter-in-law, Glenda Odum of Surprise, Arizona; grandchildren, Michelle Lynne and Mike Morris, Susan Kay and Chris Tracy, Charles Lee Odum, Granger James Odum, Amy Lizabeth Childers, Jacob Taylor Childers and Hunter Lee Odum; great grandchildren, Madison Nicole Tracy and Emma Kate Tracy; and sister, Oma Singer. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel; step-father, Jess Brown, who helped raise her; and two sons, Charles Ronald Odum and Norva Curtis Odum. Mrs. Odum was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marion where she was an elder and deacon. She worked as a longtime cook for Marion Unit 2 Schools and longtime ticket sales at Marion athletic events. She also had previously worked at Planters Restaurant and Woolworth’s Department Store. She was a loving mother and grandmother and great grandmother and she will be greatly missed by all.
