Marion-Mildred Chamness Holmes, 97, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
She was born on May 9, 1919 in Marion to Elmer and Luthary (Hill) Blackburn. Mildred was a waitress for several years around Marion. She was a school bus driver for 24 years for Marion Unit #2 and retired in 1977
Mildred was united in marriage to Guy Chamness on June 28, 1947. Together they had 52 years of marriage until his death in 1999. She later married Ralph Holmes and he passed away on April 16, 2006.

Sons-Leon and Carol (Winn) Chamness of Fairfield and Ronald and Sue (Cagle) Chamness of Marion
Several grand children, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren
Several nephews
Three special sister in laws-Shirley Chamness, Pauline Kelly and Emma Lanningham
A very special niece-Donna Felts of Johnston City
Two very special friends-Brenda Kuhl and Joann Whitehead
Her beloved dogs-Precious and GiGi
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; daughter, Frankie White; five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at noon at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Jerry Schell officiating. Burial will follow at Fountain Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Wednesday from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home.
