Michael Lee Smith

Michael Lee Smith, age 73, of West Frankfort, Illinois, passed away Monday, July 22, 2024 at Veterans Affair Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

Michael was born September 05, 1950 in Herrin, Illinois, a son of Gordon and Erma Naomi (Hornick) Smith. Michael was born and grew up in Herrin, Illinois. He joined the United States Army where he served in Vietnam. Upon returning home he drove a truck for many years and then retired. He led an adventurous life and enjoyed fishing on his bass boat and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was a member of the local VFW and attended Redemption Church of Johnston City, Illinois. He is a former member of the Teamster's Union.

He is survived by four children, Michael Lee Smith, Donnie Smith, Cassie Smith, and Jessica R. Presley; one brother, Kelly (Stacey) Smith of Johnston City, IL; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and niece Melissa Saulnier and several other nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by six siblings, Janet Brown, Clarence "Corky" Smith, Donald Smith, Diane Smith, Gordon "Dale" Smith, and Leonard Smith.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 30th, 2024 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the Blue Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2024, 11:00 AM at Blue Funeral Home with Rev. Robby Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion with full Military Honors.
