Michael L. Byrn

Marion- Michael L. Byrn, 64, of Marion, passed away at 8:26 PM, Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Michael was born on July 2, 1949 in Herrin to Joe and Ruth (Pullem) Byrn.  He married Linda L. Davis on March 21, 1968 in Creal Springs.  She preceded him in death on December 7, 2012. Michael was a pastor a local area churches throughout the years.  He also worked as a coal miner for many years, first at Old Ben 21 and later at American Coal. He was a member of Grange Hall Freewill Baptist Church and loved reading the Bible and sharing his testimony of God’s love to all he met.  He would introduce himself to everyone; “My name is Michael Byrn and I love Jesus”.  When he was able he enjoyed spending time outdoors- hunting for deer in Johnson County with his boys or fishing for Bass at local ponds and lakes. Survivors include- Son- Curtis Byrn of Marion Son- Douglas Byrn and fiancé Christina Williams of Marion Son- Wiley Byrn and wife Crystal of Royalton Six grandchildren Three great grandchildren Brother- Johnnie Byrn and wife Pat of Crab Orchard He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, November 15, 2013 at Grange Hall Freewill Baptist Church.  Rev. Kevin McNeely will officiate.  Inurnment will follow at Grange Hall Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11:00AM until time of service at Grange Hall Freewill Baptist Church. Memorial donations are suggested to Grange Hall Freewill Baptist Church/ Building Fund and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N. Court/ Marion, IL  62959.
