Creal Springs-Melvin Powell, 78, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Saline Care Center. Melvin was born on September 3, 1936 in Creal Springs to Vernie and Recil (Buckner) Powell. He married Shirley Robertson on September 14, 1957 in Creal Springs. Melvin retired from the Vienna Correctional Center after many years of service. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all. Survivors include: Wife-Shirley Powell of Creal Springs Son-Rodney and Sheliah Powell of Marion Daughter-Angie and Alan Ainslie of Benton Grandchildren: Nikki and Matt Reed Tyson Powell and Megan Burroughs Garrett and Sara Wilson Step grandchildren: Casey Ainslie Brittnie and Adam Wells Great grandchildren: Noah Reed Aidan Reed Ellie Wilson Keegan Wells Hudson Wells Brothers: Justin and Wanda Powell Leo Powell Vernie Powell Jr. Eugene and Judy Powell Sister-Phyliss and Bill Rodgers He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Harlan Powell and sister, Margaret Rushing. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Jim Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at County Line Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N.
