Mary E. Travelstead Carrier Mills—Mary E. Travelstead, 78 of Carrier Mills passed away at 12:30 PM on Monday, September 24, 2012 at her home with family by her side. Graveside funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery-Poordu, with Reverend Gary Holmes officiating. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Mary was born in Carrier Mills on Thursday, November 2, 1933 to Alan & Belvie (Morris) Beggs. She married Robert C. Travelstead who has preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Delmar Travelstead of Carrier Mills; grandchildren, Dallas & Jamie Travelstead, John & Stephanie Travelstead, Jason & Beth Norris, Matthew Wall and Angie & Mark Tower; 11 great-grandchildren. Marry was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; children, Robin Nunley and Gary Dean Travelstead; siblings, Bill Beggs, Jim Beggs and Ruth Beggs. Mrs. Travelstead was a member of Mt. Pleasant “Poordu” Freewill Baptist Church. She was previously employed at the Opheum Theatre in Carrier Mills, as well as being the owner & operator of Robbin’s Café. She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.
