Mary Springhart PITTSBURG-Mary Springhart, 85, of Pittsburg passed away at 6:30 AM, Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Russellville Hospital, Russellville, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion, with Pastor Bruce Fox officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until time of the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available through the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mary was born September 5, 1924 in Marion, IL to John and Amanda E. (Spencer) Mifflin. She married Ochil Springhart on June 1948 in Piggott, Arkansas; he preceded her in death on February 11, 1977. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Brenda and Archie Cleveland of Bradley and Jeanne Cochran of Russellville, Alabama; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Gladys Springhart of Marion; brother, Walter Mifflin; grandchildren, Melissa and David Hamilton, Seth Mattox, Amanda Allie, Roger, Jeremy, and Josh Cochran, Frankie Springhart, Angie Taylor and Pattie Gaston; several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Ronnie and Carl Rogers and Eddie Springhart; sisters, Madge, Ollie, and Betty; and brother, John Mifflin. Mrs. Springhart was a retired supervisor for the State of Illinois at Manteno Mental Health Center. She also served as secretary beside her husband of Local 1563, AFL-CIO, AFSME before his death at which time she took over president of the union. “Granny” will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A special thanks to Russellville Hospital ICU, Burns Nursing Home, Hospice of Tennessee Valley, Dr. Longmire, and especially Dr. Miranda Decker, who gave us an additional 2 years with “Granny.”
