Marion-Mary Murrie, 85, passed away at 6:58pm on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Herrin Hospital surrounded by her family.
Mary was born on June 21, 1931 in Paragould, AK to Dixon and Willie (Hammock) Day. She married Billy Murrie on May 15, 1953 in Anna. He preceded her in death on July 28, 2016.
Mary graduated from Anna Jonesboro High School. Early in her life she worked as a telephone operator for GTE. Later she began working at Kroger’s in Anna and Marion and worked there for over 30 years, retiring as a front end supervisor. Mary then worked at the Marion Eye Center. She was a founding member of Community of Faith Church in Carterville where her and her husband Bill both volunteered in the Clown Ministry. Mary was very active in church and enjoyed many church activities. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren and enjoyed shopping.

Son-Douglas and Debbie Murrie of Murphysboro
Grandchildren-Andrew Scott and Kelly Murrie; Jessica and Gusti Yudhistira; Amanda Murrie and Collin Murrie
Great grandchildren-William Evan Murrie and Cohen Yudhistira
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Toby Day and Bud Day and sister, Martha Stephens.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 4pm at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Todd Greiner officiating. Visitation will also be on Wednesday from 2pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
