Mary Louella Horn

Herrin-Mary Louella Horn, 85, passed away at 10:59am on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Herrin Rehab & Nursing. Mary was born on August 23, 1929 in Carbondale to Lowell and Ruth (Smith) Casey. She married Dewie W. Horn and he preceded her in death in 1970. Mary later married Leon Chamness and he preceded her in death in 1993. Mary worked in local clothing stores and later retired from the Illinois Dept. of Public Aid in Marion. She was a member of Marion First Baptist church Joy Singers, Eastern Star and White Shrine of Jerusalem. Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Cecil and Jackie Horn of Marion; grandson and wife, Brian and Corina and great-grandson, Tyler Horn of Herrin. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 2pm at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. Bob Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Sunday from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Heart Association, First Baptist Church Building Fund or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N. Court St/ Marion, IL 62959.
