Martin Jay Logan
MARION-Martin Jay Logan, son of Thomas Jay and Jocelyn Logan, died August 22, 2010, a result of a diving accident at Kentucky Lake. He was 36 years old; born June 24, 1974.
He was the oldest of two siblings. He grew up in Marion, Illinois and attended Marion Junior High and High School. He graduated from Hackley School in Schenectady in 1992 and Union College in Albany, New York 1996. He studied advanced mathematics (fractals) at Florida Atlantic University. He was an excellent student and a gifted athlete, particularly in swimming. He was a partner in Shawnee Enterprises, Inc., providing high quality housing for low-income families in Southern Illinois.
He loved his family more than anything and would give the shirt off his back for his friends. He was compassionate and caring. When he saw injustice, he sought to right it. When he saw someone in need, he was there for them. He loved children, who looked forward to movie nights at his house.
Martin loved his dogs (Mr. Wu and Miss Jackson), his garden, his koi pond, playing the guitar, movie night, and reading anything he could get his hands on. He loved complicated mathematics and made it sound like something anyone could do. Martin enjoyed traveling and always made sure he knew some phrase in the native tongue so that he could communicate with people.
