BENTON-Marjorie L. Williams, 72, of Benton passed away at 6:50 AM, Saturday, September 26, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family after a battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Bill McDonald and Revernd Chris Cutsinger officiating. Visitation will be form 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, September 28, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Coal Bank Springs Cemetery, east of Marion.
Marjorie was born March 7, 1937 in Williamson County, IL to Elmer and Evelyn (Bonds) Richey. She married Joe W. Williams on October 19, 1980 in Piedmont, Missouri; together they shared almost 29 years of marriage.
Survivors include her husband, Joe of Benton; her children, Gary and Marcella Havener of Crab Orchard, and Genea and Scott Allred of Fredericksburg, Virginia; step-children, Michael Tyrone Williams of Pittsburg, Matthew and Ashley Williams of Marion, Marcy Hammond and her husband of Marion and Steve and Robbie Dwyer of Crab Orchard; grandchildren, Joseph and Jodi Havener, Christina and Wade Lewis and Christopher Roberson; ten step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Grant and Cathy Richey of Logan; sister, Barbara Simon of Bourbonnais; sister-in-law, Peggy Richey of Poordo; and several nieces, nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Glenn Havener; brother, Danny Richey; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Louis Casey; and brother-in-law, Roger Simon.
Marjorie loved her family and enjoyed having big family gatherings for which she always insisted on cooking. She loved fishing. She formerly owned and operated the Kewpee Café in Benton.
