Marilyn Jane Lee

Marilyn J. Lee, age 88, of Marion, Illinois,  passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at her home in Marion, Illinois.

Marilyn was born September 04, 1934 in Cairo, Illinois, a daughter of Jesse and Ludene (Gardner) Edwards. She married Wayne Lee on November 20, 1965 in Cairo, IL.   Before graduating high school she enjoyed working at Oriac Youth Center in Cairo, IL.   After graduating from Cairo High School in 1965, she worked at First Bank & Trust Co. for 14 years and later at Citizens State Bank in Wickliffe, KY for 3 years.  Marilyn was a homemaker after moving to Marion, IL in 1970.  Marilyn and Wayne enjoyed 47 years together with their two daughters Rebecca and Valerie.     

She is survived by two daughters, Valerie K. (Joe) Zdankiewicz of Marion, IL and Rebecca A. (Woody) Scherer of North Aurora, IL; four grandchildren, Kristen Scherer (Fizzy Ramsey), Dan Scherer, Shane (Heather) Zdankiewicz, and Cody (Olivia) Zdankiewicz; three great-grandchildren, Grayson Scherer, Carson Zdankiewicz, and Caden Zdankiewicz; and one niece and four nephews.   She is preceded in death by her husband Wayne Lee; her parents, Jesse H. and Ludene Edwards; and three siblings, Carol Ann Harrison, Shirley Franklin, and Allen Edwards.

Private graveside services will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion, IL.
