Marilyn D Ashe MARION-Marilyn “Mickey” Ashe, 78, of Marion passed away at 8:15 PM, Weds, September 01, 2010 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 04, 2010 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marion with Reverend Marlon Otte officiating. The burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion after the funeral. The visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 03, 2010 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion, and starting at 10:00 AM (prior to funeral) at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the ORL Capital Building Fund; envelopes are available at the funeral home; or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Marilyn was born on August 07, 1932 in Los Angeles, CA, to Leslie and Alice (Olson) Warburton. She married her high school sweetheart Robert Ashe on June 08, 1952 and they enjoyed 58 years of marriage. Survivors include her husband, Robert Ashe of Marion; her children, Stephen L. and Connie Ann Ashe of Marion; Richard D. Ashe and his companion Pam Becker of Topeka, Kansas; Daniel K. and Sandra Freyer – Ashe of Martinez, California; Grandchildren, Stephanie Ashe, Meredith Ashe, Paul Ashe, Matthew Robert and Andrinna Ashe, Benjamin Joseph Ashe, Lauren Stephanie Ashe, Edward Freyer, Christina Freyer; Great – Grandchildren, Marlie Ashe, Alia Ashe, Alexander Freyer, Mason Draper; Sister, Linda and Marlin Cone of Kansas City, MO. Survivors also include several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Susan Pitcher. Marilyn was a founding member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, and a past Sunday school superintendent. She was a member of WELCA (Women of Evangelical Lutheran Church of America). She received a master’s degree in elementary education at SIU and taught 28 years for Marion Unit #2. She was a member of the National Education Association as well as a life Beta Sigma Phi.
