Margie Anna Throgmorton

Margie Anna Throgmorton Goreville- Marjorie Anna Throgmorton, 92, of Carbondale passed away at 2:30 PM on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville, IL with the Reverend Kenny Blumenstock officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, December 17, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Cana cemetery in Goreville. Memorials may be made to the association of the donor’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the service or can be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959. Margie was born July 22, 1918 in Johnson County, IL to Claude & Carrie (Johnson) Vaughn. She later married Ruben Throgmorton with whom she had three children. Survivors include her husband; son’s, Richard Lee Throgmorton of Goreville and Billy Joe & Kathy Throgmorton of Marion; son-in-law, Lowell Martin of Goreville; grandchildren, Joe Martin and Jackie & Rodney Byers all of Goreville, Sam Martin of Paducah, John Throgmorton of West Frankfort, Richie Throgmorton of North Carolina and Marie Throgmorton of Florida; 9 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren and 1 cousin, Mary Porter of Eldorado. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Betty Martin and sister, Helen Cato. Margie was primarily a homemaker but in her past she made 105mm bullets during World War Two. She also cooked on the Rail Road and for one year at Goreville School. Margie loved to can fresh food and garden, she loved the music of Marty Robbins and reading.
