Manford Eugene “Gene” Poole TUNNEL HILL–Manford Eugene “Gene” Poole, 74, of Tunnel Hill passed away at 4:38 PM, Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah Kentucky. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Reverend Clark Madden and Reverend Howard Strunk officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery in Tunnel Hill. Gene was born August 2, 1934 in Mill Creek, Illinois to Manford James and Effie Lorene (Sims) Poole. He married Rosanna Schierbaum on January 6, 1956 in Cornith, Mississippi; together they shared 53 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Rosanna of Tunnel Hill; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Rose Marie Poole of Tunnel Hill, Frankie and Penny Poole of Tunnel Hill, Robert and Kathy Poole of Creal Springs; daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Jerrod Walker of Goreville; grandchildren, Christy Turner, Daniel & Ashley Poole, Mandy & Kevin Gibson, Erica & C.C. Stiff, Adam Poole & fiancé Lindsey, Bobbie Jo Dalton, Hillary Poole & fiancé Cory Dassing, Rachel Grace Winters, Hunter Christian Poole, and Cheyenne Loren Poole; great-grandchildren, Mickela Turner, Myra Turner, Marley Bender, Emily Poole, Christopher Poole, Daniel Dalton Poole, Brandyln Poole, Emma Mann, Kadyn Gibson, Austin Stiff Aubrey Stiff, Frankie Jo Poole, Jackie Poole, Josie Poole, Kaitlyn Poole, Jace Dassing, and Jerrick Dassing; step-grandchildren, Abe Loza, Timothy & Angie Morrison, Jimmy Harris, Joseph “Junior” Morrison, and Jacob Morrison; step-great-grandchildren, Sonyah Rambeau, Alex Pulliam, Jacob Morrison, Skylar Morrison, Destiny Morrison, Jack Morrison, Jerrian Stiff, and Mason Morrison; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda Sue & Wayne Goodwin of Town Creek, Alabama, Peggy Evelyn & Ronald Smith of Gordonville, Missouri, and Shelby Louise & Richard Webb of Tamms; sisters-in-law, Pearl Poole and Joann Poole both of Tamms; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald Ray Poole and Jimmy Lee Poole; granddaughter, Lillian Rose Walker. Gene was an avid fisherman, Deacon at Bethlehem Gospel Mission Church; he was plant superintendent at Unimin Corporation. Gene battled a rare muscle disease called Inclusion Body Mytositis for 15 years. He loved and enjoyed sharing his time with his friends and family at the Lake of Egypt. He will be missed by all who knew him.
