Mabel L. Ferguson, 93, of Spillertown passed away peacefully in her family home at 6:26 PM on Wednesday, May 2, 2012.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ferguson will be held at Noon on Saturday, May 5, 2012 in Blue Funereal Home in Marion with Reverend Shorty Alsip officiating. Mabel will be interred in Oddfellows Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service hour Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Spillertown Baptist Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959.
Mabel was born on Sunday, August 25, 1918 in Williamson County to Thomas J. & Hanna Rebecca (Atwood) Klope. She married Jewell M. Ferguson in Marion on Monday, January 11, 1937; they shared 51 years of marriage until his passing on Monday, June 6, 1988.
Mabels memory will continue on through her surviving family; children, Iretta & Howard Stephens, Nathalie & Jim Linder, Roger Ferguson (all of Marion) and Darryl & Debbie Ferguson of Herrin; grandchildren, Howard & Nicole Stephens, Anthony & Dyana Stephens, Vanessa Holan, Jamie & Jim Hardin, Jim & Tammy Linder, Jr., Jay & Cecil Linder, Jeff Linder, D. Scott Ferguson and Jason & Roxanne Ferguson ; 17 great-grandchildren with 1 on-the-way and 5 great-great-grandchildren with 1 on-the-way.
Mrs. Ferguson will be greeted in Heaven by her parents; husband; son, Gordon Ferguson; grandchildren, Joy Denise Linder & Sandra Kay Ferguson and her 7 siblings.
Mabel was a member of the Spillertown Baptist Church for over 70 years. She formerly worked in the Gospel Bookstore and Norge. Her spirit shall live on through her family.
