Lynn was born in Hardin County on February 26th, 1925 to John D. and Laura (Walsh) Surgeon. He married Elizabeth Novoselac and had five children.
Lynn served his country as a United States Marine, and attended the University of Illinois graduating with a teaching degree. He was a teacher at Saint Peter and Paul grade school in Waterloo, IL and Prairie Du Rocher elementary school in Prairie Du Rocher, IL. He sold insurance, he was a farmer, he raised hogs and cattle and he drove the school bus. He planted two different orchards. One was at the farm near Fults, IL and the other was outside of Evansville, IL near the old Dew Drop Inn. He Loved to sell folks his tree ripened peaches, prune plums and apples. People would come across the Chester Bridge year after year to buy his delicious crop and they often left with a rose as a bonus. He loved to grow and give away roses. He was a welder, a plumber, an electrician, a carpenter, and an avid woodworker. His favorite things to make were music boxes and swivel clocks, most of which were given away. On the weekends when he wasnt tending the orchard or making sawdust he was tripping the light fantastic to the music of his favorite bands with a great bunch of friends (making sure to always bring his own can of wax just in case the floor wasnt waxed properly).
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, his brother John D. Surgeon II and his sister Margaret Shirley Ringhausen.
Lynn is survived by his ex-wife Elizabeth, his children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, his brother Donald Surgeon, and sister Dorothy Klockenkemper.
To all that have care for and loved him these last few years we give a heart filled thanks and express a gratitude that cannot be put into words.
He has escaped the burden of his broken body and imperfect mind and we that are left behind find solace in this fact.
