Lyle Welch

Lyle S. Welch Johnston City—Lyle S. Welch, 64 of Johnston City, passed away at 1:25 PM on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are set for Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 3:30 PM at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Interment will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery at a later time. A time of gathering for family and friends will precede the funeral services on Saturday starting at 1:30 PM at the funeral home. Lyle was born in Dayton, OH to Lyle & Francis (Ball) Welch on Sunday, June 27, 1948. He married Gayla Gabriel in 2000; she survives. Mr. Welch is survived by his loving wife, Gayla; children, Brian & Tracy Welch, Garland & Eileen Welch, Cindy Welch, Susan Pierce, Stacey & Dave Thornhill, David Stuber, Tabatha & Virgil Colson, Tommy & Vickie Martinez and Steve Martinez; grandchildren, Mike, Mel, Alex, Caitlin, Lacey, Derik, Cortney, Kristin, Chris, Nick, Davey, Darren, Carmen, Josh, Caleb, Nicole and Marissa; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Roger Welch and Wanda Welch. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle & Francis; brother, Ralph Welch and grandson, Calvin Welch. Mr. Welch was a Vietnam Army Veteran, sacrificing 3 years of his life for his country. He was a mine repairman for Old Ben #25 and a member of UMWA. Lyle enjoyed fishing and working in his yard. He loved riding his golf cart with his faithful pooch, Sassy. Lyle had a deep admiration for his family and loved spending as much time with them as possible.
