Lyle Ray Copher
MARION-Lyle Ray Copher, 77, of Marion passed away at 11:15 AM, Sunday, September 30, 2007 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with his grandson, Tim Webb giving the eulogy. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Military rites will be held at the cemetery by VFW Post 1301, American Legion 147 and the National Guard. Mr. Copher was born September 10, 1930 in Williamson County to John R. and Reba Mae (McGown) Copher. He married Delorious Ivern Wright on January 24, 1948 in Henderson, Kentucky; she preceded him in death on November 22, 2006.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Earl Webb of Effingham; daughter, Lavina Copher and her companion, Dick Lenz of Vandalia; son and daughter-in-law, Wesley Lyle and Julie Copher of Marion; son, John Howard Copher of St. Louis; grandchildren, Timothy Lee Webb, Thomas Earl Webb, Billy Lyle Hopper, Brent Dwayne Houseworth, Brian Dale Houseworth, Dustin Lyle Copher, Brent Castellano, Chris Castellano and Rory Zimny; great grandchildren, Kirstin Houseworth, Colton Houseworth, Blake Houseworth, Mason Houseworth, Jarika Castellano and Aubree Castellano; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley Ann and George Norman of Marion, Linda Jane and Joe Kinnley of Carterville and Judy Kay and Jim Martin of Paris; and brother and sister-in-law, Johnnie Dale and Phyllis Copher of North Port, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; daughter, Sharon Houseworth; and brothers, Robert Edmond Copher and William Dean Copher.
Mr. Copher worked in maintenance and as a welder on the railroad for 37 years, with CEI, MO Pacific and Union Pacific Railroad Companies. He served his country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed traveling with his wife in their RV and he loved to fish.
