Luther “Skip” Wheaton, Jr. GOREVILLE– Luther “Skip” Wheaton, Jr., 55, of Goreville passed away at 8:03 PM, October 29, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Reverend Doug Bridgeman and Dr. Ron Ferguson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 PM, Monday, November 1, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Busby Cemetery in Goreville. Memorials may be made to Goreville City Park; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, P.O. Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Skip was born October 4, 1955 in Anna to Luther and Juanita (Durham) Wheaton. He married Cindy Travis on November 12, 1982 in Goreville; together they shared almost 28 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Cindy Wheaton of Goreville; daughter and son-in-law, Chasity and Danny Hertter of Goreville; sons and daughter-in-law, Travis and Jonnah Wheaton and John Harrison Wheaton all of Goreville; grandchildren, Miranda, Gracie, Matthew, Emily and Kyson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Travis Eugene and Peggy Wheaton of Goreville and Harold and Judy Wheaton of Makanda; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and Randy Herren, Sonja Underwood, Pam Wheaton and Kathy and Darrel Burlison all of Goreville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Denise Hope; parents; like-a-son, Jon Gilley; and his dog, Harley. Skip worked for Enterprise Products for 30 years. He was very goal oriented, he was a carpenter and a philosopher. He enjoyed building log cabins, reading, listening to Joel Osteen and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan. But most of all he loved his family.
