Marion-LuReta Viola Taylor, 90, passed away peacefully at 5:55pm on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Parkway Manor in Marion.
LuReta was born on May 31, 1924 in Nebo, IL to Joe and Leona (Ellege) Benz. She married Roy Dean Taylor on December 18, 1966 in Marion. He survives of Marion.
LuReta retired from teaching cosmetology at local universities in 1980. She was an active member of Marion First Baptist Church.
Surviving is her beloved husband Roy, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage blessed with love, companionship and respect. They shared a life serving God, working, traveling, fishing, antiquing, sharing with family and friends along with many other memories. Also surviving is her son, Bobby Cassidy of California; grandson, Eric; granddaughter, Rhea; stepchildren, Lena and Willie Deutsch of Alton, Randall and Karen Taylor of Havana, IL and Charles and Lisa Taylor of Tucson, AZ; 9 step grandchildren; 20 step great grandchildren; brother, Bill Benz and wife Shirley of Jacksonville, IL and uncle, LaVerne Elledege and wife Kathy of Alton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Velva Jodi Waits.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. Bob Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, January 9, 2015 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home.
