Lucille Smith

June 21, 1916 — July 31, 2014

Lucille Smith, 98, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 9:07 am  at Herrin Hospital. Lucille was born June 21, 1916 in Greenbrier, Tennessee and was raised by  George and Mallie Trenary.  She married Clarence E. Smith on November 11, 1932 in Melvindale, Michigan and together they shared 59 years of marriage until his death on December 23, 1991. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Johnston City, she attended Community of Church in Marion.  Lucille retired from the Williamson County Court House; she was a secretary in the real estate tax department and she was a farmer’s wife. Survivors include her; Son – Clarence “Earl” Smith and wife Louetta of Johnston City Daughter – Roberta “Ann” Hicks of Yorktown, Virginia Four grandchildren; Terri Zettler and husband Randy of Tamaroa Keith Smith and wife Tammy of Johnston City Pamela Hicks-Medford and husband Mark of Yorktown, Virginia Scott Hicks and wife Jennifer of Yorktown, Virginia Six great grandchildren; Josh Zettler and wife Tara of Marion Jessica Lore and husband Steve of Chicago Mariah Medford of Yorktown, Virginia Benjamin Hicks and wife Ally of Poquosan, Virginia Matthew Medford of Yorktown, Virginia Jacob Hicks of Yorktown, Virginia Four great great grandchildren; Noah, Julia and Lyah Zettler of Marion Benjamin Hicks of Poquoson, Virginia Several nieces and nephews Preceded by her Parents, Husband – Clarence Smith and Two brothers and One sister. Graveside services will be Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 12 pm at Egyptian Memorial Gardens with Rev. Josh Zettler and Elder Gordon Lambert officiating.  Visitation will be Saturday from 11 am until the time of service at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.  Envelopes will be available and accepted at Blue Funeral Home, 1704 North Court Street, Marion, Illinois  62959.
