Lucille Dalton, 78, of Carbondale, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024. Born on July 1, 1946, to Arlie Jack and Jesse (Tucker) Jack, Lucille lived a life of love, service, and dedication to her family and community.
Lucille married the love of her life, Thomas Dalton, with whom she shared many wonderful years. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing, a testament to her caring and compassionate nature. She worked in insurance management.
Throughout her life, Lucille was the cornerstone of her family, always putting others first and offering a helping hand to anyone in need.
Her greatest joys were spending time with her beloved grandchildren, shopping at HomeGoods, vacationing, working on jigsaw puzzles, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. She was a devoted member of the Church of God in Johnston City, Illinois, where her faith guided her every step.
Lucille is survived by her loving children: Sheila (Lester) James and Michael (Alicia) Dalton; her cherished grandchildren: Jonathon (Callie) James, Matthew (Jordan) James, Brittney (Derek) Ehlers, Ryan (Hannah) Dalton, Makayla (Jawan) Tucker, Liam Casolari; and her great-grandchildren: Brayden, Brooklyn, Kinley, Gunnar, Lincoln, Jaila, Jylan, Jayce, Bayne, Elissa, and Nylah. She also leaves behind her dear brother, William Arlie Jack, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dalton; her parents, Arlie and Jesse Jack; and her siblings: Leroy Jack, Lucinda Bione, Robert Jack, Loren Arvel Jack, Virginia Whitehead, and Joy Spiller.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2024, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley-Ross. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Barry Steed, will follow at 1:00 PM. Lucille will be laid to rest at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Lucille’s memory. Condolences may be shared online at bluefuneralhome.com.
Lucille’s legacy of love, care, and generosity will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
