Lowell “Sam” Ledford LAKE OF EGYPT– Lowell “Sam” Ledford, 91, of the Lake of Egypt passed away at 4:30 PM, Monday, June 21, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Monsignor Thomas Flach officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Sam was born June 8, 1919 in Harrisburg to Ralph and Bertha (Knowles) Ledford. He married Anna Geraci on August 20, 1955; she preceded him in death on February 28, 2008. Survivors include brother and sister-in-law, Dwan and Dorothy Ledford of Marion and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Sam was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. He worked at for the State of Illinois in the Department of Public Aide. He served his country with the United States Army. He was a member of the VFW Post 1301 and the Masonic Lodge 89 AF & AM. Sam was an avid golfer.
