Lorene Jennings MARION-Lorene Jennings, 93, of Marion passed away at 12:05 PM, Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 8, 2007 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Ken Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 until 11:00 AM, Friday, June 8, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Marion. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Jennings was born December 7, 1913 in Ozark, Illinois to Fred B. and Mary (Robertson) Lambert. She married Cletis Jennings on October 17, 1936; he preceded her in death on April 20, 2002. Survivors include nieces & nephews, Bill and Evelyn Batts and Juanita and James Lindsay; great nephews, Robert and Steve Lindsay; and close friends, Art and Joy Baur and Dare and Mary Baur. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Elsie Schumacher and Bernice Beasley. Mrs. Jennings was a member of Scottsboro Baptist Church. She knew her Bible and taught Sunday School Classes, she was active in the American Baptist Women’s Group and encouraged and led youth groups at church. Her Christian witness will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. For many years she worked at Sangamo Electric and later finished her working career at the Gospel Bookstore on West Main Street in Marion. She loved to read and encouraged her friends to buy and read good books. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge. Lorene was a very kind and generous lady who was always helping others. She will be missed by all who knew her.
