Loren “Nub” Henson
MARION-Loren “Nub” Henson, 91, of Marion passed away at 5:32 AM, Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Angel Acres in Marion.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 27, 2006 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Don Colson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 27, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Mr. Henson was born on September 19, 1914 near Crab Orchard, Illinois to Gilbert “Gib” and Ellen (Hamlet) Henson and graduated from Crab Orchard High School. He married Georgia Lee White in 1936, she preceded him in death.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Delores and David Gleckler of Salem; son and daughter-in-law, Lowell “Bud” and Jan Henson of Marion; son, Ron Henson and special friend, Nancy Massie of Freeport; grandchildren, David DeMaris, of Austin, Texas, Dana DeMaris of Sandoval, C.J. Holthaus of Round Rock, Texas, Matt Gleckler of Mt. Vernon, Derek Henson of Marion, Christie Corzine of Marion, Doug Corzine of Franklin, Tennessee, and Melody and Quinn Henson of Freeport; great grandchildren, Daniel and Jessica DeMaris of Sandoval and Serra Holthaus of Round Rock, Texas; sister, Imogene White of Marion; brother, Frank Henson of Huntington Park, California; and two nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one brother, Lawrence “Bot” Henson.
“Nub” had been a coal miner, truck driver and auto mechanic. He worked many years at Hayton Motors and later owned and operated Henson Transmission Service until retirement.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he enjoyed gardening. In recent years, “Nub” enjoyed sitting on the front porch chatting with friends and neighbors and occasionally spinning tales.
