Lois Smith

Marion-Lois Smith, 89, passed away at 8:26 pm on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Parkway Manor in Marion. Lois was born on August 19, 1925 in Chicago to Robert and Anna (Hutter) Hill. She married Floyd Smith on June 15, 1951 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1996. Lois graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder and worked in insurance for many years. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and was a longtime volunteer at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Lois is survived by her daughter, Nancy “Nikka” Smith of Marion and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Rital Hill Oechsel and brother, Robert J. Hill, Jr. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 5:30pm at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Marlin Otte officiating. Visitation will also be on Thursday from 3pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Marion Medical Missions or “The Promise” and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N. Court St/ Marion, IL 62959.
