Lois J. “Jean” Beard

Lois Jean Beard, age 87, of Carbondale, Illinois passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Manor Court in Carbondale, IL.  Jean was born June 6, 1935 in Carterville, Illinois, a daughter of Isaac and Marceedith (Wooten) Brown.   She grew up and attended school in Carterville, IL.  Jean married  Barney L. Beard Jr. on October 22, 1952 in Marion, IL, her loving husband of 56 years.  

Jean is survived by her daughter LaDonna McNulty (Doug), son Kenneth Beard (Carole), daughter Melanie Rambeaux (Jim), and her granddaughter, Megan Beard.  She is also survived by her sister Anna Mae Ogle and brother Roland “Shorty” Brown and sister-in-law Shelba Brown.  

Jean was preceded in death by her parents Roland and Marceedith Brown, husband Barney L. Beard Jr., siblings Bob Brown, Gary Brown and Donald Brown. 
 
The family welcomes visitors to Blue Funeral Home-Marion on Thursday, May 4, 2023 between 5:00 p.m – 7:00 p.m.  Funeral services will also be held at Blue Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023 with Rev. Keith Owens officiating.   Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery immediately following service. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
