Lodemia Meece

January 30, 1928 — March 24, 2019

Marion- Lodemia Meece, 91, of Marion, passed away at 8:35 AM, Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Parkway Manor in Marion.

Lodemia was born on January 30, 1928 in Goreville to Lora and Bernadean (Johns) Dunn.  She married Rev. Fred A. Meece on January 6, 1951 in Desoto.  They were married for 60 years until his death on September 18, 2011.

She was converted and joined Busby Chapel Church in 1945, where she remained a member.  She graduated from Goreville High School and was employed by the State Highway Department in Springfield.  She later transferred to the Department of Public Health in Carbondale, where she remained until her marriage in 1951.  She then joined her husband at Fort Sam Houston in Texas until he was sent to Germany to bravely serve his country.  She returned to Goreville and then later moved permanently to Marion with her husband in 1955.

Survivors include-

Son- Mike Meece and wife Ellen of Johnston City

2 dear grandsons- Aaron Meece and wife Nikki of Herrin and Adam Meece and wife Mariah of West Frankfort

Sweet great grandson- Torrin Meece of Herrin

Brother- James Dunn and wife Mary Ann of Goreville

Niece and nephew- Trina Tosh and husband Mark of Tunnel Hill and David Dunn of Goreville

Great nephews- Marshall Dunn and wife Bethany of Goreville and Andy Dunn and wife Emily of Carterville

Great niece- Macie Tosh of Tunnel Hill

2 great great nephews- Gannon Dunn and Mason Dunn

Great great niece- Emery Beth Dunn of Goreville

Special Aunt- Cora Childers of Goreville

Numerous cousins

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant brother- William Marshall Dunn and beloved aunt- Violet Stearns. 

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Busby Chapel Church in Goreville.  Rev. Ben Eldridge will officiate with assistance from Rev. Kenny Blumenstock.  Burial will follow at Busby Cemetery, also in Goreville.  Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion and from 11:00 AM until time of service, Wednesday at Busby Chapel Church in Goreville.
